As part of my commitment to offer a service to as many children and adults as possible there is now a new option. This special is for a strictly limited time and bookings are essential to avoid disappointment. Kinesiology is a fast effective way to support the bodies natural instinct to work to heal itself. Kinesiology offers you the opportunity to quickly and effectively understand the blocks standing in your way, whether they be emotional, physical or chemical. As a therapist recovery techniques are used in conjunction to muscle monitoring.
Basically your body tells the therapist what it needs. It is simple, effective and pain free.
These Special Trial sessions are 40minutes in duration and give you a taste of how kinesiology works for you and your family
What is Kinesiology
Kinesiology (Kin-easy-ology) is the use of muscles as biofeedback monitors of stress and imbalances within the body. ‘Muscle Monitoring’ is an effective and versatile tool for detecting and correcting physical, psychological, emotional and learning difficulties.
Kinesiology began in the 1960’s with American Chiropractor, George Goodheart D.C. In the 1970’s another Chiropractor, John Thie D.C. systemized Kinesiology for the lay person in a self-help method called Touch for Health. Today there are many forms of Kinesiology.
Kinesiology is a versatile technique that can be expanded and developed to suit individual needs. Kinesiology is suitable for infants, children and adults.
The governing bodies for Kinesiology in Australia are the AIK (Australian Institute of Kinesiologists) and the AKA (Australian Kinesiology Association) More information on practitioners can be found at these sites.
Kinesiology and Learning Difficulties
The main focus of Kinesiolgy for children with learning difficulties is in the area of ‘brain integration’. Brain integration modalities include Educational Kinesiology (Brain Gym), Anatomy and Physiology of the Brain and the LEAP (Learning Enhancement Advanced Program) and Primitive and Postural Reflexes Program. Correction techniques help to release stresses and clear blockages and emotions impairing clear pathways to learning.
LEAP Program by Charles Krebs
The LEAP program was designed by Dr Charles Krebs who also wrote the book ‘A Revolutionary way of Thinking’ which overviews how he came to develop the LEAP program. Specific brain parts and functions are targetted by the LEAP practitioner and any blockages in that area are cleared. This continues through a variety of balances till all functions are at maximum potential. Once this is achieved the child can process easier and is much more relaxed emotionally and as a learner.
Anatomy and Physiology of the Brain is a further kinesiology tool used to correct imbalances in processing by specifically clearing brain parts such as the amydala, corpus collosum and the limbic system.
The LEAP practitioner has undergone rigorous training with over 240 hours of intensive teaching and learning.
Primitive and Postural Reflexes by Brendan O’Hara
Brendan O’Hara designed these simple bean bag activities for use in the home, classroom and kinesiolgy clinic. Activities are lots of fun and work to integrate primitive and postural reflexes used by babies in the womb, in the birthing process and in the first twelve months of life. Activities are accompanied by rhymes, songs and have CD’s to make the process easier to use at home.
Research reveals that if these reflexes are not integrated into the bodies system various learning difficulties have been shown to develop.
Educational Kinesiology by Paul Dennison
Educational Kinesiology (Edu K) or Brain Gym was designed by C. Dennison who was interested in bringing Kinesiology into the school environment as a specific program to assist children to learn. Activities are simple and fun and easily learnt from the “Brain Gym” book or through an Edu K consultant.
Many schools include Brain Gym as a part of their sensori-motor or gross motor programs. These actvities are organised into groups around specific subject areas such as writing and comprehension.
Research of the Brain Gym program is available for review.
One:One Consultations with John
As a LEAP practioner and kinesiologist, I work 1:1 with adults and children at my Bribie Island clinic in Queensland. These sessions include an initial consultation where a full history of the problem is taken and an initial balance is completed. During the session the muscle monitor supports the healing process by leading me to the most appropriate technique to support the recovery therapy for each individual. People sense a feeling of relaxation and leave the therapy feeling that they have ‘let go’ of stresses that have previously been difficult to disolve. Kinesiology is an excellent technique for emotional, physical and mental healing. During the recovery therapy I will use a variety of kinesiology techniques and may include flower essences, reiki, colour therapy, soul cards, kinetic energen, dream work, Neuro-linguistic programming and crystals. I use my knowledge of recovery techniques and intuition to gently support the individual to a balanced status.
This work with adults and has provided the space for significant changes in my client’s abilities to manage their relationships and lives in a far more productive and enjoyable manner.
With children I work as a LEAP practioner, educational consultant and kinesiologist. Parents are encouraged to remain during the sessions to provide valuable information and to witness the journey their child is experiencing. Often parents witnessing the session decide to have their own kinesiology balance at a later date to better assist their child and themselves cope with life in general.
The LEAP kinesiology balances are designed to maximize your child’s learning by integrating the brain functions and parts. No drugs are used and balances include simple kinesiology techniques that are pain free and my clients have found very relaxing and reassuring. Depending upon the problems the child is experiencing the number of sessions vary from four to twelve.
Parents have noted marked changes in the child’s behaviour and learning capacity (see testimonials). It is usual for children to require four to five sessions to secure significant improvements in their learning capacity.
