What is Clear Learning
Active Education is a company devoted to providing parents and educators opportunities to learn how to support a child’s learning journey. Learning can and should be a fun adventure where the learner is quickly and easily able to grasp new ideas and link them onto previously learnt information. I refer to this as using their treasure chest of knowledge or prior learning. Using the child’s strengths as a place of beginning the journey is the most powerful tool I know to success.
Success breeds success is an old adage which holds true for clear learning processes.
Why did Active Education Begin?
Active Education began because many parents and teachers in my professional roles; as a Learning Support teacher, Special Educator and Reading Recovery teacher, asked me the same questions over and over. I wrote the book “Clear Pathways for Kids Learning, A Parents Guidebook" and the Active Education courses as support tools for parents to use to assist their children to learn easily.
What about Specialist Support?
As a specialist teacher and a kinesiologist I have based my courses and book around up to date research based information, what I have found that works with children I've had the pleasure to mentor. I have included information on visual, auditory and kineasthetic processing and brain integration as these processes working freely allow the child to interact with their learning in a very self empowering way.
If one of these processes is blocked then specialists may be required to assist with specific programs such as the LEAP kinesiology program, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Vision Therapy and Speech Therapy.
“Clear Pathways for Kids Learning, A Parents Guidebook” and the Active Education courses give you information and guidelines as to how best to find extra support with a qualified specialist. However, the information given in the courses and book provide you with a wealth of tools that stand alone and work for all children.
Active Education Courses
The courses currently available include an introductory talk about children’s learning styles, processing, nutrition and brain integration. It provides you with clear guidelines on how to identify a processing problem, how to best link learning to your child’s own knowledge base and what foods and exercises can improve your child’s learning capacity.
Active Education Reading Course
The Reading course provides you with simple clear instructions on how to support your child to learn to read. I have had the results with one parent whose child improved 12months in reading age in 8 weeks following my guidelines. This child was previously at risk in his literacy learning. Similarly parents have said now their kids love to read whereas previously they were hiding their reading homework.
Active Education Writing Course
The Writing course builds on the reading but linking it easily to writing and how to best support your child. In the early years up to age 8 what a child can easily write they can easily read. Practical suggestions on getting your child to write and learn how to spell are included. The more they write the easier they can read. Learning letters and words and writing for a purpose i.e. a letter, recipe, shopping list. All suggestions are linked to things you can do at home about information your child is interested in. Improving your child’s writing with simple editing steps are overviewed. How to make school projects easy rather than battle grounds is included.
Active Education Maths Course
The Maths course works through everyday maths situations that arise at home and how you as a parent can include maths homework into the shopping, cooking, sewing and for the Dad’s the tool shed jobs. Children need to see that maths is a practical daily problem solving issue. We have to juggle finances, work out food portions, project measurements. These are all valuable learning experiences for children to understand how maths works and why it is so important in our daily interactions. Numeration or place value of numbers is also included ie 3489 =3000 + 400 + 80 + 9. I have found overviewing this with parents makes them see how easy it is to help their child with maths homework.
Active Education Mission
It is my mission to be able to provide you,the parent, with up to date researched information and teach the simple skills needed to make a remarkable difference to your child’s learning journey. You are their first teacher and remain the most important facilitator in their education.
Active Education provides you with the tools to be excited about the journey and provide a very easy framework for your child to scramble over what previously were insurmountable odds.
Learning is fun, kids love it. Lets keep it that way and enjoy being an active part of your child’s education.
Tania is very clever and she loves to sing ...
... In this song, Tania sings about the brain and all the different parts.
Singing is a real joy for her and it helps her to learn.
As a LEAP practioner and kinesiologist, I work 1:1 with children at my Bribie Island clinic in Queensland. These sessions include an initial consultation where a full history of the problem is taken and an initial balance is completed with the child. Parents are encouraged to remain during the session to provide valuable information and to witness the journey their child is experiencing.
What to expect from the session
Often parents witnessing the session decide to have their own kinesiology balance at a later date to better assist their child and themselves cope with life in general. The LEAP kinesiology balances are designed to maximize your child’s learning by integrating the brain functions and parts. No drugs are used and balances include simple kinesiology techniques that are pain free and my clients have found very relaxing and reassuring.
How many sessions will my child need?
Depending upon the problems the child is experiencing the number of sessions vary from four to twelve. Parents have noted marked changes in the child’s behaviour and learning capacity (see testimonials). I work with adults in my clinic and have found significant changes in my client’s abilities to manage their relationships and lives in a far more productive and enjoyable manner.
